Make Your Dupatta Do The Work For You!.

Apr 13,2017

While winters allow for a time to take out those sweaters, jackets andjeans, summers are the time for beautiful eastern attire. The light clothes, the colorful prints and the beautiful embroidery make summer clothes so irresistibly beautiful. However, there is a point of concern – duppatta. It is one part of the attire that can be incredibly beautiful but painfully uncomfortable. The heat of the summer afternoons can make the brushing of this cloth against the neck completely unbearable. At the same time, it is this very addition to the attire that completes the eastern look and takes the beauty of the dress several points higher.

So this week, we will look at some of the ways you can use your duppatta with maximum style and minimum discomfort. Let’s take a look.

Fold it and Pin it

This is the easiest way to control that extra piece of clothing and make it add so much to your fashion statement. Either folds it like you folded your school uniform dupatta or gather it in pleats keeping the two edge close so as to be easy to be pinned to the shoulder of the shirt. This will keep your hands and neck free and in comfort from the heat and brushing.

Add a Belt

This would work best with party wear and formal dresses, especially if you are donning a lehnga or a long skirt. This would be a variation of the style described above but here instead of pinning it on the shoulder, you will be holding it in place with a belt around your waist. You can either keep the front and back of the dupatta both in the belt or only keep it in place by belting the part on the front and let the back hanging loose.

Divide the Load

Sometimes, with fancier dresses, dupattas can be quite a mess. Sometimes there is embroidery and gems that add more to the weight. The good part is that such dupattas are beautiful and mush be draped as to keep their beauty in sight. The easiest way to achieve style and comfort at the same time is to divide the weight on your shoulder and wrist and let it hang freely behind your back. Just pin one side of it like you would for just the shoulder style, and wrap and pin the other end on the other arm’s wrist. This will allow you to keep it light and flash off its style.
