Winter Attire Is All About Layers!.

Jan 23,2017

Layers are a necessity more than a fashion choice but these two things don’t have to be mutually exclusive. You can dress up for really cold weather while still looking dashing. Here are some easy ways to do just that. For starters, remember that your clothing should consist of three layers to protect you from weather effects as well as give you enough room to play with your attire. Here is a brief description of what items could be used for all those layers.

Base Layer

The innermost layer next to your skin has to be the major player for providing warmth and protection. Better make this one moisture absorbing as well as comfortable. There are times when it’s freezing in the morning but gets warmer in the afternoon. At such times you can get sweaty with so many layers, so having a moisture absorbing base layer would be huge benefit to stay comfortable throughout the day.

Mid Layer

This one is the winner for your outfit or it can be a well hidden pair of clothes to let the outer most layer shine. If you choose to make the mid layer star of your attire, make sure that it is thicker than your base layer to provide uniformity to your look. You also need to tuck your clothes properly to make sure that your mid layer doesn’t let the warm air escape and make you feel cold despite so many layers.

You can use more than one piece as the mid layer. Throw in a turtle neck under a sleeveless buttoned up sweater and add scarf as an accessory. Having more layers will allow you to stay warm and also come in handy if the weather warms up towards the afternoon, you can take them off unlike your inner layers.

Outer Layer

More often than not it is the most important part of winter attires. Outer layer is what shows and holds all the charm. Good coats, nice boots, elegant accessories can add several points to your style with a little work. Fur, fleece and ski jackets are your best bets for extremely cold days. Velvet or a leather jacket will be a choice for regularly cool days. Remember not to forget the weather requirements. While jeans could make for a completely stylish look in summer or spring, they won’t usually fit well with the winter attire. Consider factors like weight, warmth, durability and waterproofing while choosing your winter clothing and you would be good to go.
