As a mother of a beautiful and highly energetic little angel, I know how important it is to redefine your child’s wardrobe every now and then. Ruffled bloomers look so amazing on 3-4 year old girls. In this tutorial you will learn how to create a cute little ruffled bloomer for your little woman. So, let’s begin!
1. Cut the fabric according to measurement of your little girl. Create different fabric panels.
2. Cut the first fabric in three different ruffles and hem the bottom of each ruffle, as shown in the figure below.
3. Now, attach the first ruffle to the side panel and leave a 1 inch gap at the bottom.
4. Similarly, attach all the ruffles to the side panel and repeat the process for the other side panel.
5. Now, pin the top ruffle on top of the side panel, upside down, and stitch as shown in the figure below.
6. Turn the top ruffle down after sewing.
7. Repeat the same step for the side panel.
8. Now, let’s begin with the other fabric pieces. Place the pieces together and stitch the crotch area. Repeat the same process for the backside.
9. Create the ribbons for the bloomer. Fold the rectangular pieces of the fabric and sew lengthwise.
10. Flip the ribbon straps to the right side and sew the edges for a finish.
11. We are almost through. Now attach the ribbons (that we just created) to the other part of the fabric that would make the front portion of the bloomer.
12. With the right side up, sew the first panel to the side of the front, as shown in the figure below.
13. After you are done with the stitching of the side panel, you should be able to have something similar to the image shown below.
14. Now, with the right sides together, stitch the other side of the panel to finish this side of the bloomer.
15. Repeat the same process for the other side of the panel and make sure that edge-stitch all the sides for the final finish.
16. Now repeat the same process with the other panel.
17. Now, sew the bottom by pinning inner bottom to the right side.
18. Sew the sides of the panels and securely attach them to the middle body. Do not see all the way around the bloomer.
19. Sew the waistband casing around the bloomers with at least 3 inches of opening for the elastic band.
And there it is; the cute little ruffled bloomer. Try it on your little princess and share your experience with us in the comment section below. Cheers!
