We have already seen some of the ways in which you can make the right choices when buying clothes and can also take good care of the clothes you have to make them last long. Now we are going to cover some miscellaneous steps in which you can not only make your clothes look better for longer but also up your fashion game at a low cost.
Spare Buttons Are There For A Reason
Every time you buy a coat or a sweater, it comes with some spare buttons. Shoes also have spare laces and even heel caps. They are not limited to just one piece of clothing. It is advisable that you immediately store those spare buttons, zips and laces in a jar so if you break it on your coat or jacket or spoil it on your shoe, your whole outfit isn’t ruined. Likewise, you can make your own DIY style if you have several buttons of same design in different colors. Buttons and laces could also be used as bracelets with some creativity. The bottom line is that if you get something spare, it is not to be wasted.
Cold Water Is Better Than Hot Water In Most Cases
These things must come to every fashion lover as common sense. Washing in cold water not only reduces your energy bills but is also gentler on your clothes. Warm water has the tendency to dissolve some of the colors and also dampen the shine. In fact some fabrics like nylon can be completely ruined if exposed to over heated water.
Never Forget Color Separation
Likewise, make sure that you aren’t mixing colors up that can ruin each other. Even for same colored clothes, it is better to wash the clothes that lose color separately because they can still spoil the embroidery or print on a similar shaded piece of clothing. A simple test will suffice this need. If you feel that some bright piece of clothing could lose color, wet an inch of that cloth and run it across the back of your hand. If it leaves a trail of color, do not add it in the washer with other clothes.
In any case, no matter how sure you are of the quality and color of clothes, do not mix whites with any other colored clothes. Also, a bit of bleach can work wonders on whites to make them look good as new but the same bleach can end up spoiling other colored dresses. So whites and even blacks must go separate.
