Head Wear For Warmth And Style At The Same Time.

Feb 06,2017

It’s easier for women to cover their heads in winters with scarves and beanies and look on point. For men it’s a whole different deal. Beanies are rarely flattering and they tend to kill the grace of a man’s formal attire as well. Winter chills however do not discriminate on heads. So here is a guide for men to choose headwear which brings warmth and style together.

Stocking Cap

Also known as the watch cap and the tuque, this symmetrical shaped cap is usually made of knitted wool or cotton and has a folded brim to provide extra layer of covering for ears. You can pull it completely to your scalp or leave it little loose. This is a gender-neutral headwear but is more pronounced in men’s wear than women’s clothing.

This is small enough to fit into a pocket so you can keep it handy for the times when you have to walk out and fold it to keep it safe while you sit in your warm office or home.

Aviator Hat

If you think you need to cover your ears completely then the aforementioned cap might not be the best solution. The aviator hat is made to solve that problem. Also called trapper hat or ushanka, this type of hat has two additional flexile flaps on each side which you can pull over your ears when the temperature drops much below the freezing point.

This hat is also thicker and has the option of tying the flaps under the chin or over the hat. Sometimes, they also come with a forehead flap which allows you to cover your head completely and insulate against the chill. There roots trace back to military use so they are also more stylish than the stocking caps.

Beard Hat

If you carry a funky style statement and prefer looking apart from the crowd then this is the choice for you. This knitted cap has a knitted beard attached with it which not only covers head and ears but also cheeks and chin. It has open space for nose and lips, since it only covers your face like an actual beard, so it does not cause any difficulty in breathing through it.

It is neither formal nor chic, but it is one of the inventions that were made to be looked different. However they tend to be a little uncomfortable if you have the real beard underneath. So wear it to add comfort and look funky, not to look the opposite of stylish.

Scarves

This is the most versatile option and allows you to cover head, ears, cheeks, chin as well asneck. You can wear it loose and wrap it up around your face and neck when you walk out in the cold weather. These are also easily available and can be complemented or contrasted with the colors of your overall attire.
