Everyone has a number of button-ups in their wardrobe in several colors. Winters are a time of layers, sweaters and coats. Sweaters
Choose a combination or contrast colored round-neck sweater and wear the button-up underneath. For added style bit, you can pull your sweater sleeves up slightly and fold your cuffs over the sweater sleeves. Vest, Cardigan Or Open Sweater

With A Dress
Button-ups can also come in handy with dresses in winters. If your dress is like a maxi or longer in length overall, you can use the shirt as an upper layer with an undershirt or an inner thermal. Eave the buttons open but try to keep the shirt and dress colors coded.
If, however, your dress is knee length or shorter then the trick to pair a button-up shirt is to tie it at the ends at the height of a cropped shirt. Leave the buttons open, have another shirt underneath, and wear the button-up as a body length coat. Just remember to have thick tights with such dresses to stay safe from the weather effects. Alternatively, you can leave it open and tie a belt around the waist.
