With this tutorial, you can learn a valuable skill to create a scrap bag that would not even cost you a single penny!

Here is well-sorted, step-by-step process that can help you save money on handbags. So let’s get started.

Step 1: Fish out an old pair Denim Jeans from your closet (I know you have an old pair). The size doesn’t matter; you can even use your son’s old, outgrown jeans.

Step 2: Get all the ingredients ready. You will require:

• Your Sewing machine (don’t worry if you don’t have one, the good old-fashioned hand sewing can do wonders.)
• Spool of all-purpose sewing thread (preferably matching).
• A pair of scissors.
• Some Linen or cotton fabric (preferably in cheery colors).

Step 3: Now that you have all the things that will be required for the project, let’s get to work.

First of all, level the two top edges of the waistband (you can iron the jeans to keep them smooth for precision, but normally it is not necessary) and pin them together with the help of sewing pins.

Step 4: Now use the scissors to cut the jeans from under the crotch area, as shown in the figure below:

Note: You can cut the jeans according to the amount of length you desire for the bag. The cut should make your jeans look like a mini skirt.

Step 5: Now turn your jeans inside out and stitch together the open sides of the jeans, as shown in the figure below.

Step 6: If you have reached to this step smoothly, then you are half way through. Now to add an enticing look to you scrap bag, get your favorite linen fabric and cut it according to the size of the jeans.

Step 7: Stitch the linen fabric on the wrong side of the scrap bag, as shown below: You can choose to add inside pockets, but if you don’t, you will have plenty pockets outside (it’s jeans after all!).

Step 8: Now cut out the straps for the scrap bag. The length of the straps can depend on how much length you want.

Step 9: Sew the strapsto the scrap bag, as shown in the figure below:

Step 10: To create a fastening device, you can craft an additional strap and apply it to the belt loop.
