Who says Fashion is just for women. Men these days are equally meticulous about their looks and dressing. And why shouldn’t they be? After all the logic of looking good, feeling good applies equally to men as women, and men also tend to be more confident and perform better if they feel good about themselves. However, while almost all women seem to have a skill with colors and combinations, most men fall short of that. There are chaps out there with a super ability to always managing to find out the perfect tie to go with any shirt, but most men find themselves at a loss. Some close their eyes and pick up the tie their hands get on while others hope that no one would notice how mismatched their matching is.
So we decided to extend a helping hand to the lot fitting the latter descriptions. Here are some foolproof ideas for you to pick up shirt and tie combinations, for your work or gathering and look on point.
Combinations
This is a risky but very graceful area. Wearing a dark purple tie with a light purple shirt and a charcoal grey tie with an ash grey shirt will look phenomenal. This can be applied to almost all solid colors but try to keep the tie shade darker than the shirt. It not only brings out the collar and your overall body posture with your tie, but also adds to the shade of the shirt.
The risky part is when you play with the color family instead of the same color base, such as a purple tie with a pink shirt. It looks equally good but there is a chance of novices mixing up. So how about you start with the same base and when you have an extended enough collection and a stronger grip on combinations, you start playing with the color family?

Contrasts
This is the opposite of combinations, but just as delightful. And most of you are probably already used to applying this method in your choices of ties with shirts. Wearing a white shirt? Go with a black tie. The beauty is that with contrasts, you don’t have to stay within the color family. While a white tie would look great on black shirt, so would purple. And you can also replace the black tie on a white short with a red one.
This one also applies to all solid colors and your tie can really bring out your shirt as long as there is a clear difference of colors. It means that while purple and blue are good to go together, you should not wear both of them in darker or lighter shades. Keep the shirt much lighter than the tie or vice versa.

Design Contrast
It is always advisable to keep either your shirt or your tie patterned. If your shirt is a solid color, a check or dotted pattern tie would look great. If your shirt has a patter, put on a solid color tie. This also applies to color combinations and contrasts too. If your shirt has a pattern and is of more than one color, you can choose a solid color tie of any of the colors in your shirt. Same goes with tie. If your tie is patterned and has more than one color, you can wear it with any of the colors in it.
