Jan 12,2017

Most of us wish to be in complete command of our wardrobe. For our shirts and pants, we are often aware of what we are wearing but when it comes to sweaters, we are somewhat at a loss.So this article is for winter lovers who enjoy having a range of sweaters and also want to know which fabric they love the most.

Cashmere

This is a type of wool and most commonly used for high quality sweaters. It comes from goats and is the pinnacle of luxury wear. It is soft and warm and looks absolutely fabulous. It is also lightweight and delicate so it goes well with formal attire. It is as loved by women as it is by men and it has the quality of defining and refining dress codes for both as well.

Sheep Wool

Although cashmere is also sheep wool, that is more processed and more worked on. The regular sheep wool is more common than cashmere and is also lighter on your wallet. Unlike cashmere, sheep wool sweaters may or may not be extremely soft and they also have varying degrees of warmth properties. Some of the common types of sheep wool fabrics are Shetland and merino, the latter being softer than the former. Shetland in fact is a little coarse. It looks very pretty and is warmer but it could also be itchy.

Linen

This fabric is purely made for winters with added qualities of being smooth, warm and light. This fabric however can wrinkle so it needs to be worn and kept with care. The good part is that with this kind of fabric you don’t have to take off and put on your sweaters as the weather shifts lightly during the day. It is breathable and can keep you cool in hotter winter afternoons and warmer in colder winter nights.

There are more easily available blends sweaters which combine two or more types of fabric for multipurpose sweaters and then there are extremely rare pure silk sweaters which are soft and durable in addition to give a great feel against your skin. However, the most usually found fabrics of sweaters have been described, so use this next time you are shopping for your winter collection.
