Winters are an exciting time to experiment with clothes. But things get harder when it comes to formal wear, especially work clothes. With the necessity of adding layers to keep ourselves warm, it becomes difficult to put up a dress that is formal and warm at the same time. Guys have it easy in this case. Simple suit jackets and coats work perfectly in tandem with formal attire, but girls seem to be at a loss. So here is a guide for you to set up formal yet stylish clothes this winter season.
Replace Sweater With Jacket Or Short Body Coat
Coats and jackets are both useful for warmth and if coordinated with proper dress, that can work for ladies too. Avoid the skirts and frocks if you are considering a jacket. A small dress with a jacket is rather informal wear. Instead wear dress pants and a solid colored shirt. For coats you can make your dressing look formal by getting solid colored coats on printed dresses. Boots work better with jackets and heels work better with coats.
Switch Frizzy Sweaters With High-Necks Or Long Sweaters
Short body sweaters or cropped sweaters add a lot of fashion to your clothing but they do little to make your attire look formal. Instead of that, if you wear sweaters that extend right down till your thighs or you wear add length upwards with a high-neck or turtle-neck that switches the game. You can pair wither of these with jeans or dress pants and you would still look appropriate for work.

Sweater Dresses
These are the easiest way to look formal and keep warm. Get full length sweater dresses and pair them with tights or stockings depending upon the intensity of cold weather. These are easier to carry and free you from the hassle of carrying multiple pieces of clothing at once. Solid colored sweater dresses are better for work than printed ones but both of these can work for a work day.

Long Coats To Hide All
If you run out of formal clothes then use a long coat to add a cover of formal attire over your usual dresses. If you are wearing a skirt and an overcoat, go with heels and if you are wearing jeans then pair them with long boots. Dress pants and overcoat are the best combination and you can wear either type of shoes with it.
